Reg Shore
For those of you who knew Reg Shore l hope that l can give him the epitaph that he so richly deserves. For those who didn't know him, a footnote for your memory of an outstanding human being and Liberal Democrat.
As a teacher, having observed many of his lessons, he was without parallel in his field. As a District Councillor, he was without doubt the most difficult to have in your team. As leader of the group l spent more time trying to convince Reg to follow the party whip than anyone else, for the simple reason that Reg could question the decision with such skill that l was almost convinced that l had got it wrong myself!
His energy and determination to get elected to the County Council should be a model for all aspiring councillors. Reg's secret was to engender such loyalty from his friends and supporters that they would turn out in rain and shine to leaflet and canvas on his behalf.
Reg could interact with every one he spoke to, whether it was a pupil or adult. He had that rare skill of listening to and reacting to what was said to him and his warmth and acceptance of everyone as an equal made him a special and much loved human being. If you were a friend, you were never left behind.
Reg will be sorely missed, but more importantly, never forgotten by all those who came in contact with him.
Our love and condolences go to Heather and Reg's family. As President of the Gainsborough Constituency Liberal Democrat's our sincere thanks for Reg's contribution to our Party and lives.
Neil Taylor.
